We want to remind you that your money is safe at Houston Federal Credit Union, and your deposits are federally insured by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) up to at least $250,000 per individual depositor. NCUA operates and manages the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF), which is backed by full faith and credit of the U.S. government, and insures the accounts of millions of account holders in all federal credit unions.

Due to the recent events regarding the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, many people feel like their money is not safe; go into a panic and start making large withdrawals from their share accounts. This is not advisable or recommended, because once the money is taken out of your account, it is no longer covered by NCUSIF protection. NCUSIF protects member’s single ownership accounts, which include regular shares, share drafts, money market accounts, and share certificate.
